Calvin Evans is one of Chicago’s top young comedians and he’s always on the cusp of technology, trends, and the future of society. As part of the experimental programming during the Wondertonk AI festival this May, Calvin and other talented comedians will be conducting a live AI Comedy show entitled Artificial Ignorant on May 18th. Artificial Ignorant is a live comedy show at Wondertonk where the comedians will use Artificial Intelligence to generate jokes on site, and then the comedians will joke the generated jokes.
Whether you are a creator, marketer, executive, or techie, AI is going to impact 400 million jobs by 2030 and Wondertonk is the place to experiment with the possibilities, concerns and utilizations of Artificial Intelligence to unlock human potential.
Calvin Evans television credits include the Fox series APB, NBC’s Chicago PD, Sherman’s Showcase on IFC and Shameless on Showtime. He has also performed standup on the Kevin Hart Comedy Central series Hart of The City, LOL @ JFL, TruTV Laff Tracks , NBC Bring The Funny and reoccurring on the hit Comedy Central show SouthSide. His half hour Unprotected Sets special released in 2020 on EPIX. (watch below) and his debut comedy album B.O.R.N is available on all streaming platforms.
As a Chicago native, Calvin Evans comedy career began during his time at the University Illinois Champaign-Urbana. While obtaining his degree in Sport Management, he fell in love with stand up comedy and would put his business aspirations on hold. He took his talents back to Chicago and was quickly named Chicago’s Next Big Comic. Calvin received a Puma Scholarship to attend the famed Second City Training Center. Upon completing their Improv Conservatory program; Calvin was awarded a Bob Curry Fellowship. With stand up as his focus he traveled the country performing at colleges and clubs. In 2017 he was recognized as a New Face at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal. In 2018 he was one of 8 finalist in the nationwide NBC Standup competition.
About the Wondertonk AI Festival
The Wondertonk festival’s experimental programming will feature four core components: inspiring panels, creative exhibitions, educational labs, and aggressive debates spanning various industries. This is the first ever AI festival in Chicago and we’re testing the concept on an intimate level. May 17th is our VIP reception with first access to view the art exhibitions and May 18th will consist of the educational and entertainment programming. Attendees can expect thought-provoking discussions, hands-on demonstrations, and networking sessions with eclectic experts and enthusiasts alike. Participants and programming are subject to change.
